I have been making pots part-time for about 15 years from my pottery in Jedburgh, while also working as a teacher and raising my children. I started out making earthenware tableware but have expanded my practice and now also make in porcelain. I am also enjoying experimenting with non-functional forms and larger pieces. 

The large vases are made on a kick wheel, which are glazed and then painted with stains. I try to imbue the pots with the emotion of the sea and the skyscapes of the west coast of Scotland where I sail with my family. 

I am happiest when painting my pots.

Every August I show my work at our annual Open Studio at Hundalee Mill Farm, TD8 6PA, together with my husband, the artist Thomas Hawson.
